The main goal of the Malabar Precinct Upgrade was to achieve a sound connection between visitor use and maintenance access requirements.
NewScape Design was engaged by National Parks and Wildlife Service to undertake detailed design for upgrading the entrance, access route and visitor precinct in Malabar National Park.
The design achieves this through the development of a visitor entry precinct at Fishermans road, including way finding and access gates. The upgrade of the access route includes provision for large trucks and sandstone erosion stabilisation, without removal of native vegetation, giving the effect of a wide walking track to visitors.
This precinct and access upgrade forms a key section of the Maroubra to Long Bay walking track heavily frequented and highly valued by the local community, and will serve as an integral access route for fire and long term park management.
